Joe Scafido, Chief Creative and Innovation Officer

Joe Scafido was named Chief Creative and Innovation Officer in 2003. He is responsible for innovating new product and store concepts, channel development, global manufacturing, supply chain management, product development and quality assurance. Joe also oversees Dunkin’ Brands’ “culinary dream team,” whose members have trained at the world’s top restaurants and culinary schools.

Under Joe’s direction both Dunkin’ Donuts and Baskin Robbins have introduced innovative new store designs. In 2007, he spearheaded the launch of Dunkin’ Donuts’ Oven Toasted menu platform, the most significant change to Dunkin’ Donuts product lineup since the company launched espresso-based beverages in 2003. Joe also led Baskin Robbins’ introduction of Soft Serve, establishing the brand as the only ice cream chain in the US to offer both hand-scooped ice cream and Soft Serve products.

Joe has more than 30 years of hospitality and foodservice experience. Prior to joining Dunkin’ Brands, he served as chief menu and marketing officer at Popeyes Chicken and Biscuits where he led marketing, menu development, product management, communications, public relations, quality assurance and concept development. He was responsible for the introduction of over 30 new products, as well as the launch of "Popeyes Louisiana Pantry," an on-line store featuring Louisiana classic foods, music and cookbooks. Joe also served as director of marketing and retail operations for Florentine Restaurants, Venezia Italian Foods and as director of sales and marketing for LaQuinta Inns.

Joe was honored in 2007 with his second Menu Masters Award – his first was the Menu Masters Award, Special Recognition for Menu Revamp in 2002.  He was also named QSR Menu Strategist of the Year in 2001.
